1. Size and footprint

Measure the clear area including peg clearance. A 3x3m pop-up suits small gatherings; 3x6m marquees cover long tables. Check packed length for car-boot transport to parks and sports days.

2. Frame, fabric and UV

Powder-coated steel or aluminium frames resist rust better near the coast. UV-stabilised polyester tops last longer in full sun. Removable sidewalls add weather flexibility without buying a second tent.

3. Wind, weights and pegs

Never rely on fabric alone. Use manufacturer weight bags or ground pegs. On hard paving, water-filled weights are safer than empty frames. Collapse promptly when gusts build.

4. Care and storage

Dry fully before packing to prevent mildew. Loosen stuck zippers gently. Store off concrete floors in a deck box or shed. Inspect poles and connectors each season.
